Following an organized set of events in Brussels from 23rd to 30th March called Roma week, the European Parliament had a debate session on April 6, in honor of International Roma Day.

With its 20th anniversary, this year, FERYP would like to celebrate the International Roma Day by publishing a series of articles written by young Roma students, graduates, professionals, reflecting on the current social and political environment and perspectives for young Roma in changing European societies.

In 1997 FERYP was established as an informal group as a part of the follow-up activities of the Council of Europe's campaign "All Different, All Equal".

After twenty years, FERYP is still working, with different people and different approaches but with the same spirit: advocate for Roma youth; empower Roma youth movements trough capacity-building of individuals and organizations.

The Central European University (CEU), founded in Budapest by philantrophist George Soros, will continue to fight for its academic independence and existence, threatened by a controversial law passed in the Hungarian Parliament.

Despite protests from academics, Nobel laureates, scientists and thousands of citizens, the government of the conservative Viktor Orbán did not back down and presented the so-called "lex CEU" to Parliament, which it approved thanks to its comfortable majority.
